Yuasa Shoyu

湯浅醤油 is quite good.

The staff were super friendly and helpful and let us stash our huge hiking packs behind the counter. They have a self-guided tour in English and Chinese which is brief but fascinating. The old factory is beautiful and it's such a treasure to be able to still see the traditional shoyu making process. Loved trying all the different miso and shoyu options, the shoyu soft serve was delicious, and we walked out laden with souvenirs. A great spot to visit in Wakayama!

I was so happy today because of the visiting at the soy sauce factory. The tour was fantastic, the sweet Yumi explained as in detail every star of the making process of the soy sauce. The president of the company was also incredibly friendly and ready to answer questions. At the end of the tour there is a shop where it’s possible to buy all different kinds of soy sauce and miso varieties. There is also a station where you can taste and decide which one is best suitable for you ( strong, light, smoked soy sauce ). Once the tour is over don’t forget to try the magical soy sauce ice-cream...you won’t regret it !
